FIGHTING TO IMPROVE EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE
My mission is simple: provide local parents and leaders the ability to educate their students according to the needs of those within their community.
Serving the Diverse Educational Needs of Families
As a former math teacher and principal, I had the joy and opportunity to observe and work directly with countless students. I learned that every student has a unique learning style and educational needs and that understanding helped me adjust my teaching style to help my students succeed. As a member of the State School Board, I am using my educational background to implement this on a larger scale. I want to learn about the needs of each community and empower local parents and educational professionals, enabling them to tailor support for their students and equip them with the tools to thrive.
Empowering Families in Education
In my long career in education, I have seen first-hand the dedication, energy, and commitment each parent puts into their children’s education. Nobody knows a child’s educational needs better than that child’s parents. Allowing families to share their concerns positively impacts education as a whole. I support Utah code 53E-2-201(1)(c), which reads, "Parents have the primary responsibility for the education of their children...” I am here to support and represent you in this experience. I will listen to, act for, and represent all families within District 10. Education policy should reflect the needs and wishes of families, not bureaucratic agendas. Your voice makes a difference in education and prevents government overreach.
Improving State Feedback
I have learned, through my time as an administrator, that effective feedback is essential to student development and success. My objective is to improve the feedback given by the State to empower progress in the school systems. Meaningful feedback enables schools to implement changes that enhance not only their communities but also the education of every student.
